Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She won the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and the first female to receive it. In addition to receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the very first Indian-origin musician to be a presenter and performer at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising singer on Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982. She began her life by hopping back and forth to London and New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her first performance in New Delhi. When she moved to Encinitas CA in 1999 she received a high-school diploma. Her career as a musician and performer is quite impressive, in spite of her young age. She has performed with her father in the stage for a long time. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nomination-winning Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is broad as she's appeared in all of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not restricted to just music. Bapi: The Love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. Also, in films in 2003 she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka shankar is a rising celebrity and her popularity is expected to continue growing. Anoushka spent a lot of traveling between London and Delhi in her early years. Then, she relocated to California for high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration, Anoushka made her debut as a sitar player in front of an audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Anoushka was a part of her father during his world tour, gained an incredible amount of experience. As a teenager, she appeared at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. The House of Commons Shield was presented to her from the British Parliament for being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and is the smallest recipient of the prize.
